Karlsruhe Institute of Technology / ifKM
On October 01, 2009, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) was founded by a merger of Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe and Universitat Karlsruhe. As the oldest technical university in Germany, founded in 1825, the profile of Universitat Karlsruhe (TH) is determined primarily by the technical and natural sciences as well as by engineering. The university offers studies to over 18,000 national and international students. The Institut fur Kolbenmaschinen, being a part of the faculty of mechanical engineering, is dedicated to research and development in the area of internal combustion engines. The institute has a long experience in experimental and numerical methods to analyse engine processes.
